All trained by an old guy from the 40's and 50's. The legacy continues as the autocratic "Company Servant", "Presiding Overseer" mentality is carried forward. All the elders are local save for a few. The outsiders are crushed by the ignorant locals. So glad I have no contact with even one of them. Don't piss them off or you'll pay. Even the merciful newbies are overuled. Had an elder jump down my throat once becuase I counseled a "Ministerial servant" for being a rude ahole. "You dont counsel people appointed by Holy Spirit", said he. I came back with, "Oh, I thought only Elders were appointed by Holy Spirtit, are MS also?" He was so angry. What a tool.

Any elders out there? How to Local needs talks work?
by Letts Party inso a local needs talk was lovingly given at our hall last week that i'm positive targeted me specifically.
it had to do with missing meetings for work.
they even had a demo on what we should do if our boss asks us to stay overtime on a meeting night (basically say "no" and risk losing your great job which you have no desire whatsoever to lose)... so i'm aware that there's a sort of protocol the elders follow when someone in the hall needs to work on something.

It needn't be viewed as a marking talk. I am certain you aren't the only one missing meetings for work. It can simply be a trend they have noticed and are adressing. Don't take it personal. At the very least it will make them nuts that you dont take it personal if it is directed at you. Did they mention to watch association with those who ignore this direction? If not it wasn't about marking. Roll on. If you're smart you won't attend any meetings and then won't have to listen to their hate speech.

by Odrade inmy husband and i have been out of the org for quite some time, but still find that old ideas and values come up and bite us on the ass.. lately, i've been plagued by an increase in the frequency and severity of my nightmares (which have always been an issue,) so i've begun to dream journal.
in just a few days, this realization cropped up.
i can't save people.. i've been blogging again recently.

In addition: I asked a CO once while at Pioneer School, "to what degree does Jehovah draw people compared to how much our presentation matters?" He said, "I shutter to think". I thought, what an idiot. Jehovah "draws those whose hearts are upright with him". I also understood that they have to be "rightly disposed to everlasting life". In addition that "Jehovah opens thier hearts". So what was I but a messenger and a canvassing agent anyway. I never bought into the whole "its on me" thinking. The self importance that is implied by thinking we are pivotal is part of the imprisonment of mind they tried to feed us. Its part of what made us believe we were better than others because "we alone had the Truth."

It must be a benefit of not being born in. I never bought that we were so critical to the salvation of others. I figured it was busy work and that we were just there to kickstart whatever Jehoobies was doing. So I guess I have never had to "get over myself" about it. I did do my best to be the best at it though, that sort of self respect I did have. Converted six people in 5 years. (Bows and waves a victory wave) Whoop'dee doo.
